WHEELCHAIR – LATERAL WEIGHT SHIFT

While seated for long periods of time in a wheelchair, pressure releases on your buttocks is needed to prevent sore from developing on your skin. The prolonged pressure of your body weight on your skin reduces the blood supply to that area.
To assist with improved blood circulation to your buttocks, lean to the side and use your arms to lift some weight off your buttock on one side. Hold and then perform on the other side. 1-2 minutes at a time.
