WHEELCHAIR – SCOOTING

To scoot forward in a wheelchair with limited strength, start by shifting your body weight to one side. Then, lean against the back rest and scoot your opposite side buttock forward. Next, lean your body weight towards the other side and repeat until you are able to scoot forward in the wheelchair. To scoot back in a wheelchair, shift your body weight to one side as you use your arms, legs and or body to scoot back. Then shift your body weight towards the other side and repeat.
